I'm still having some times when I have painful contractions for a while, but they always stop on their own. My dr said that if I go into labor before my next appointment (March 25th) she will stop the labor. If it is after that, she will probably let me go ahead and have him early, depending upon how he measures. I'm getting really anxious. I'm so ready to not be pregnant anymore, but at the same time I don't know that I'm ready to have a newborn again. I know I can't have one without the other, but it's still scary. I'm afraid of Jeslynn being jealous of the new baby and me not being able to give her enough attention. I'm terrified of the idea of labor again, but at least this time it won't be induced. Nursing again also worries me a little bit.
I can not wait to have my body back again though! I know it won't be "normal" again for a while, but at least I will be able to sleep on my stomach again, the heartburn will be gone and I won't have a foot constantly kicking me in the ribs and a hand punching me in the bladder. lol It's always one of those things where you want what you can't have. I know once I'm not pregnant anymore, I'll miss it. I'll miss feeling the movements and may even miss the hiccups! haha! I'm really trying to enjoy every moment, because there is no way to know if this will be the last child or not. Nothing is guaranteed.
I am getting really excited about finding out what he will look like! Will he have blue eyes like his daddy, or hazel eyes like mine and Jeslynn's? My dad has blue eyes too, so there's always a chance. What color will his hair be? We all have dark brown hair, but we have red heads on both sides too. Will he be a big boy or small like Jeslynn was for the first few weeks? Birthmarks? Personality? There are so many things I still have to learn about this child I've been carrying for almost 9 months!
My hospital bag has been packed for about a week now. The only things left to throw in last minute are my daily use items, like makeup (yes I'm vain and will wear makeup to cover up the dark circles after hours of labor) and phone chargers, etc. I still need to finish packing Jeslynn's overnight bag for Mimi's house, but that should be pretty easy. Most things are already in her diaper bag.
We went to Sam's Club last night and spent what seemed like way too much money stocking up before Adler gets here. We bought diapers and wipes and stocked our freezer. We also got to see Brook and Chris, which was really nice since the next time they plan on coming up is at Easter, and if I go into labor early we don't know if they'll be able to be there.

Well, I've written plenty for today. My next update should be after my appointment on Wednesday afternoon.

Have a blessed day!
Sara

32 Weeks

I have finally updated my belly progression picture, so I thought I'd post it. I was thirty two weeks on Sunday by my count, and the previous Thursday by my dr's estimation. Things have been going pretty well, except for the few times I've had some labor scares. I'm supposed to be paying strict attention since I've been having some contractions that are causing back pain and lower abdominal cramps. If I get more than 6 in an hour, I've been instructed to head straight to Labor and Delivery to be monitored. Do not pass go, do not collect $200. Hopefully things calm down though and Baby Adler decides to keep baking for a few more weeks. I'd feel much better about things if I could just make it to 36 or 37 weeks. The thought of my baby boy hooked up to any monitors or wires in a NICU just makes me nauseous. So keep us in your prayers that things stay under control. My next OB appointment is next Wednesday, March 11th. She'll be checking me again I'm sure, since I called yesterday and told her nurse that I was having contractions again. So we'll see if these things are actually causing any progression. If not, great! If so, well, I just want someone to explain the concept of bed rest with a 2 year old...

Until we meet again,
Sara

Jeslynn kissing "baby budder"

30 (ish) week checkup

Well, today was my 29 week, 5 day checkup. Not a whole lot to report, but a couple of things.

Baby Adler is measuring right on track for how far along we are. His heartbeat was still steady in the 150's. My glucose screening came back normal and my iron is up 1 point since I started taking my iron pills. So on that front, everything looks great.

I told my dr that I've had a few cases of contractions that lasted for an hour or so and actually caused pain, mostly in my back. I woke up with them last night/this morning at about 3:30 and they only lasted for about thirty minutes, but they sure hurt. I told her I didn't really think anything of them because they did eventually go away, but she wanted to check me anyway. Well, after she had to leave to deliver a baby at the hospital next door, she came back in and checked my cervix. I am actually dilated to 1 cm already, but it is still pretty thick. She isn't really concerned but wants me to start coming in every 2 weeks now. If I have more contractions that are painful, she'll check me again at my next appointment. Hopefully it is nothing and it is just due to this being my second child. Also, if I have painful contractions that don't go away by the two hour mark, I'm to head into her office or to the hospital. I'll update more if anything happens, if not, plan on my next post in two weeks! I hope that life is going great for everyone! I keep getting the feeling that he will be early, but hopefully not too early. Once I hit 37 weeks, I will feel much better about his arrival.

My next dr. appointment is next Wednesday, February 11th. I'm sure I'll have an update after that. Only 14 weeks to go if I have him on time! Oh, and we have decided on a name, Adler Breiten. We are super excited about having a boy and as the time gets closer to actually meeting him, we get more and more excited! I had my Gestational Diabetes Glucose Screening last week and I was told that no news is good news, so I'm happy I haven't received a phone call about it. The heartbeat was right on track in the 150's, except for a minute when it sped up while I was having a contraction. So everything looks good! I've gained 16lbs so far, but now is the time for major growth so I'll be packing on the pounds! I think he's supposed to double in size in the next month! I'll update if anything else comes up, and as I get new belly pictures taken!

Well, I finally got a progression put together of my belly growth, so here it is!

We will be taking a new picture every two weeks and adding them to the progression until our baby boy arrives. So far, we are measuring right on track, due date is April 24th. We got to watch our little baby wiggle around on screen for about 45 minutes, which was great, except for the fact that they make you drink a gallon or 10 of water beforehand, so I had to pee like crazy! The heartbeat was 157 and everything looked healthy and perfect. And if you can't tell from the ultrasound pictures, we are having a boy! That means we will have one of each, and according to my husband, we can stop now. Haha! That's what he thinks! Well, That is really all I have... Now it's just time to pick out the name! Middle name is decided, now for something that will fit with it.. I hope everyone is having as wonderful a day as I am!

Well, my 18 week appointment was yesterday, and everything went very well. The heartbeat was in the 150's, and we did all my blood work, which all came back great. The only thing was that I am a little bit anemic, which really didn't surprise me at all since I was when I was pregnant with Jeslynn too. I just have to take an iron pill in addition to my regular prenatal vitamins.

We scheduled the ultrasound at the hospital for December 1st, at 9:00am. This is where they check to make sure there are no signs of birth defects or congenital problems, but it is also when we will find out what sex the baby is!!! So be looking for an update after that appointment.

Jeslynn had her 2 year old well visit with her dr yesterday also, and that went very well. She is in the 75th percentile on height, weight and head circumference, so she is still a big girl for her age. She's my little linebacker. One bad thing about yesterday is that the health department here is requiring all 2 year olds to be checked for lead exposure. I can understand this, with all of the toy recalls and lead based paint and all, but there has got to be an easier way to check for this than by drawing a vial of blood! Have you ever tried to hold a 2 year old down while they stick a needle in her arm and then proceed to dig around because they didn't hit the vein the first two times? It was not a pretty picture. Luckily I took Eric with me and he held her. I was about to lose it just watching, and I don't think I could have physically held her down. She is one strong little girl! They finally got the vial of blood, put a bandaid on her arm and we went home. I skipped bible study and choir practice so that she could relax after that terrible ordeal. She just kept holding her arm and saying "Ouchie Mommy, Ouchie arm..." So sad.

This Saturday is Jeslynn's birthday party, which we are having at my dad and stepmom's house. It should be fun. We are going to be outside hunting pumpkins that we will decorate, then we'll have cookie cake and hot chocolate and cider. Maybe then it will sink in that my little girl is not my baby anymore.

Well, I guess you can be looking for my next update in about 10 days! Have a wonderful time until then!

Okay, so I'm a week behind, but here is my update from my last dr appointment.

I went to the dr on October 22nd because I was having a lot of cramping. We went ahead and just had it be my regular appointment since my next one was only a week away. We listened to the heartbeat, and everything sounded great. It was in the 140's, which is slower than what Jeslynn's always was. Hers was always in the 150-160s, so if the old wives tale holds true, that should mean boy! But we'll see.

My next appointment is the day after Jeslynn's second birthday, November 19th at 3:00. I'm actually starting to get a pooch now, so I'll have Eric take another belly picture and then try to post them. I'll have to get a card reader for the memory card since the cable connecting the camera to the computer disappeared during the move to our new house.

Tonight we have family pictures at church, the first actual sit down photo session we've had since Jeslynn was born! I'll try to post those too if I can after we get them.

Well, I'm off to iron clothes for pictures tonight. I'll update soon with pictures!

Here He/She is!!!

I'm back from my first prenatal appointment, and everything looks wonderful!

Baby Dye is measuring 11 weeks 4 days old, which is about a week ahead of schedule. I loved seeing my little one on the screen and catching a glimpse of the heartbeat. The heartbeat, for all you Old Wives Tales believers out there, was 140 bpm. So that would mean a boy! I don't put a lot of faith in that though, Jeslynn's was in the 140's most of the time too!
She said that everything looked great and she'll see me in a month. I'm not really showing yet, so I will post them once things get a bit more interesting.

Well, welcome to my mommy blog! I hope you enjoy!
